Day #63/365: After an exhausting 72 hours, I met someone today who restores my faith in humanity. After the tragic loss of their toddler daughter, Carmen and her husband leveraged their grief, moved from Ann Arbor to Detroit in 1978 to start a school. They created a place focused on “thinking globally,” where “the African American child could view themselves as the norm.” Through all of the heartache that so many years on this earth can bring, Carmen remains optimistic and energized. I am very, very proud to call her a #NewFriend.
